NEUROTECHNIX is a unique forum for universities, research groups and research projects to present their research and scientific results, be it by presenting a paper, hosting a tutorial or instructional course or demonstrating its research products in demo sessions, by contributing towards panels and discussions in the event's field of interest or by presenting their project, be it by setting up an exhibition booth, by being profiled in the event's web presence or printed materials or by suggesting keynote speakers or specific thematic sessions.

Special conditions are also available for Research Projects which wish to hold meetings at INSTICC events.

The Imperial College Centre for Neurotechnology


The Imperial College Centre for Neurotechnology fosters collaborative research at the interface of neuroscience and engineering, in order to develop and harness new technologies for understanding and treating brain disorders.  The Centre spans the Faculties of Engineering, Medicine and Natural Sciences at Imperial College, with satellites at Oxford, UCL and the Francis Crick Institute, and is host to the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Neurotechnology for Life and Health.  Brain-related illnesses affect more than two billion people worldwide, and the numbers are growing. Reducing this burden is a major challenge for society. The Centre for Doctoral Training offers a unique training programme which brings together government, industry and charity funding to train a new generation of multidisciplinary researchers to address this challenge.

Brain-Machine Interface Systems Lab


The Brain-Machine Interface Systems Lab focuses on processing human electrophysiological information to support assistive and rehabilitation technologies and to improve accessibility and the quality of life of people with motor limitations. Its research is divided into two main lines:

- Neurorehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technologies:  This research line is focused on improving and assisting human motor function in stroke and spinal cord injured patients by means of non-invasive Brain-Machine Interfaces. The lab assesses cortical activity during rehabilitation and assistive tasks supported by wearable robotics in order to obtain a better understanding of brain processes involved in the motor function.

- Human-Computer Interaction: This research line is focused on the development of alternative communication methods for people with severe motor disabilities or elderly population. Different human-computer devices such as brain-computer interfaces or electrooculographic devices are developed or applied to control computer software adapted to people with motor disabilities (web browsers, virtual keyboards, games, etc).

Laboratory of Biomedical Technologies (TBMLab)


The Laboratory of Biomedical Technologies (TBMLab) was founded in 2003 bringing to the Politecnico di Milano the set of knowledge, technologies and collaborations already present at the Bioengineering Center instituted between the Politecnico and the Don Gnocchi Foundation on 1976. TBMLab performs interdisciplinary research in the fields of movement biomechanics, cardio-respiratory system analysis, rehabilitation engineering, computer assisted surgery and radiotherapy, telemedicine and home-care. The research activities are based on a multi-scale and multi-modal approaches, development of computational models of complex systems and integration of emerging technologies. These activities are strongly oriented towards a clinical and a technological transfer, through a strict collaboration with national and international research centers, hospitals and industries.

The Eric P. and Evelyn E. Newman Laboratory for Biomechanics and Human Rehabilitation - Massachusetts Institute of Technology

Technology has dramatically expanded the range and scope of human performance: where we can go, what we can sense, what we can do and how we communicate. The focus of the Newman Laboratory is technology to enhance human performance. The mission of the The Eric P. and Evelyn E. Newman Laboratory for Biomechanics and Human Rehabilitation is to:
•  Understand and quantify key aspects of human sensorimotor performance, including mobility manipulation touch and feel;
•  Restore function to individuals impaired by disease, accident, birth defect, occupational hazard or the physical challenge of normal aging;
•  Create new technology to enable performance beyond unaided human capability.
